Swin Spitway, Sunk & Ray Sand Crossings
Some useful navigation areas in the Thames estuary, involve some care due to regular change in depths & movement in the sea bed. An excellent publication entitled “Crossing the Thames Estuary” written by Roger Gaspar & published by Imray describes these along with many other routes & crossings that the east coast sailor may want. A “must read.” for the east coast sailor.
Roger has kindly agreed to allow me to publish the 2PDFs of the details of the Swin Spitway , Sunk & Ray Sand crossings. He tells me that these will be updated as soon as his boat is launched & conditions permit next season.
We will be using these crossings on our cruises next year, so by all means print out a copy for your chart table. But always remember to keep the echo sounder turned on, because as we all know things can change unexpectedly & the author cannot accept responsibility for that unexpected “grounding”
Please lick on the sub titles for details of each crossing
