With the introduction of Brexit the reciprocal health arrangements are a little different.
Yachtsmen are advised that travel insurance is even more important than before.
If you have a UK European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) it will be valid until the expiry date on the card.
The government have issued guidance regarding the replacement for the old ECIH card & I enclose the link below:-
I would bring to readers attention, the difference between the Jersey & Guernsey islands regarding reciprocal health arrangements.
Obtaining travel insurance can be a minefield as when reading the small print travel by yacht is excluded by some insurers. This is a point that can easily missed. In the past I have used Puffin Insurance. I spoke to them to clarify the issue & it was confirmed by email that I would not be covered whilst travelling to & from the destination, but I would be covered once there. I suggest that one speaks to them & has this confirmed by email to their own satisfaction. In Guernsey I tested this with 2 visits to a dentist & payment was received in full in about 6 weeks.I enclose the link below
NOTE:- The usual disclaimer, that it is up to the individual to check fully that it meets their particular requirements . I have no connection with the company.
